A highlight from the Pokes 52-34 win at Texas Tech last Saturday.  Note who fills the hole and initiates contact with the Techster RB.

That would be #45!

Narcissism on Display

by on Sep.20, 2012, under Political

At the Barack Obama website, you can buy a poster of our country’s flag being desecrated by the narcissist in chief.  It looks like this:

If this doesn’t make you mad, you are probably part of the 47% Mitt Romney mentioned a few months ago.

Narcissism Run Amok

by on May.16, 2012, under Political

Dictionary.com defines Narcissism as follows:

inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love;vanity. Synonyms: self-centeredness, smugness,egocentrism.

They should add a picture of Barack Obama to illustrate this definition.  The latest offense of the Narcissist-in-chief was recently discovered by the good folks at Commentary Magazine.  Seems our president has added his name and accomplishments(?) to the biographies of most of our recent presidents at Whitehouse.gov.  So when you read the bio of President Ronald Reagan, who is undoubtedly spinning in his grave over the damage this President is doing to the country he (Reagan, not Obama) loved, you get to read that Obama and Reagan stand unified in support of the Buffett Rule.

This kind of stuff just sickens me.

Chuck Colson: 1931-2012

by on Apr.23, 2012, under Political

Saturday, we lost one of the great modern heroes/workhorses for the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Chuck Colson, reformed political operative turned missionary to prisoners, went to be with the Lord following complications resulting from a brain hemorrhage. Colson was 80.

I first became acquainted with Colson through his book Born Again, which had a significant impact on my spiritual walk in the mid-1980’s.  He similarly impacted thousands/millions of others through his books, speeches and the work of the Prison Fellowship ministry he founded.  A number of wonderful testimonials can be found at the National Review Online.

Chuck Colson was a man who made peoples’ lives better because he took the gospel to heart and lived it daily.  He was unapologetic in sharing is faith and standing up for “the least of these.”  He is a powerful example of the redemptive power of faith in Jesus Christ and he will be missed.  He truly was a good and faithful servant.

Fear and Loathing at Penn State University

by on Nov.14, 2011, under Football

Seems that we are all loathing the revelations from Penn State University regarding the unrestrained acts of pedophilia committed by former Defensive Coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

Seems that GA, now coach, Mike McQuery feared for his job when he failed to intervene in the rape of a young boy by Sandusky in the PSU football team showers.

Seems that Head Football Coach Joe Paterno feared for the reputation of the PSU football program, or perhaps for his friend Sandusky, when he reported the matter to his “superiors” but did no follow-up, like calling the police.

Seems that Athletic Director Tim Curley and SVP for Finance and Business (CFO?) Gary Schultz feared for the reputation of the University when they did not report this matter to the authorities.

Seems that then Centre County district attorney Ray Gricar feared something when no charges were filed against Sandusky after investigators eavesdrop on two conversations between the mother of Victim 6 and Sandusky, and after one conversation, Sandusky asks for forgiveness, even telling the mother, “I wish I were dead.”

Did nobody fear for the young boys who were the victims of this predator, whom they allowed to continue unabated?

The gift comment is related to Brandon Weeden’s birthday this week.  The rapier-like wit comes from his dad.
